What information can an NFC business card hold?
The NFC chip itself holds very little — typically just a URL (around 200 bytes). But that URL points to a profile page that can hold as much information as you want: contact details, social links, photos, portfolios, forms, and more.
What's on the chip vs. what's on your profile
It's important to separate the chip from the profile. The chip stores a single URL — think of it as a QR code made invisible. The real content lives on a web page at that URL. There's no practical limit to what that page can contain. The profile can be a simple contact card or a full interactive page with multiple sections.
Common things people put on NFC card profiles
Contact information: name, title, company, phone, email, address. Social profiles: LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, YouTube. Professional links: website, portfolio, case studies, booking calendar, resume. Interactive elements: lead capture form, email subscription, review request link. Media: headshot, company logo, short video introduction. The profile works like a mini-website that you hand to someone with a tap.
What you should NOT try to put on the chip directly
Some older NFC business card setups tried to store full contact info directly on the chip using vCard format. This worked but was limited — chips max out around 888 bytes for the most common type (NTAG213). A full vCard with a photo doesn't fit. The URL approach is superior because the profile content has no storage constraint and can be changed after the card is made.
Can you put a file on an NFC business card?
Not directly on the chip — it's too small. But your profile page can link to any file: a PDF brochure, a resume, a spec sheet. The recipient clicks the link and downloads it.
Can you put a video on an NFC business card?
Your profile page can embed or link to any video. Many people link to a short intro video on YouTube or Vimeo directly from their NFC card profile.
How many links can you add?
There's no fixed limit — it depends on the platform you use. Most NFC card services support anywhere from 5 to 30+ links on a single profile.
