How do NFC card analytics work?
When someone taps your NFC card, their phone loads your profile URL from your platform's servers. The server logs that request — timestamp, device info, IP-based location, and page activity. This data appears in your analytics dashboard aggregated into charts and counts.
The server-side logging model
NFC card analytics don't require any tracking SDK on the recipient's phone. When their phone requests your profile page, your platform's web server receives the request and logs it — the same way any website logs traffic. This approach doesn't need cookies, doesn't require app installation, and works regardless of whether the recipient has any particular browser extensions.
Common metrics in NFC card dashboards
Profile views: total and unique, by day/week/month. Link clicks: which links on your profile are clicked and how often. Contact saves: how often the Save Contact button is tapped. Lead form submissions: names, emails, and contact info collected. Device breakdown: iOS vs. Android percentage. Geographic heat map or location breakdown by city/country. Tap-over-time trend charts.
What makes analytics useful in practice
Analytics are most valuable when you're actively networking. After a conference, check your dashboard to see how many taps you got. After a follow-up email to leads from your card, see if they return to your profile. Use link click data to understand what content resonates — if your portfolio link gets 10x more clicks than your pricing page link, that tells you something about your audience.
Is NFC card analytics the same as Google Analytics?
Not quite. Some platforms integrate Google Analytics. Others use proprietary analytics. Both can show similar data, but the NFC platform's native dashboard is typically easier for tap-specific metrics.
How far back does analytics data go?
Depends on the platform. Some keep data indefinitely; others cap it at 30, 90, or 365 days. Check your platform's data retention policy.
Can I export my analytics data?
Many platforms offer CSV export. Check your platform's export features before choosing.
