Can tablets read NFC business cards?
Most Android tablets include NFC and can read business cards just like Android phones. iPads do not have NFC for tag reading — no iPad model can read NFC business cards.
Android tablets
Most Android tablets in the mid-range and above include NFC. Samsung Galaxy Tab S-series, Lenovo Tab P-series, and many others support NFC tag reading. The behavior is the same as an Android phone: enable NFC in Settings, tap the card, profile opens in the browser. Check your specific tablet's specs if unsure — budget Android tablets sometimes omit NFC.
iPads
Apple has not included NFC tag reading capability in any iPad. iPads have NFC hardware used for Apple Pay on newer models, but Apple restricts NFC tag reading to iPhone. This is a hardware policy decision — no workaround exists on iPad. For iPad users who want to access an NFC card profile, the QR code backup or a direct URL link are the only options.
Can I use an NFC business card with an iPad?
Not via NFC — iPads can't read NFC tags. Use the QR code or share the profile URL directly.
Will Apple ever add NFC reading to iPads?
Unknown. Apple has chosen not to enable it on iPad despite including some NFC hardware. There's no indication this will change soon.
Can I read NFC tags on a Windows Surface tablet?
Some Surface Pro models include NFC. Windows 10 and 11 support NFC tag reading natively. Check your Surface model's spec sheet.
